A cleanroom floor specification should begin with the process and room design. For a Chile project, ask the cleanroom designer whether raised flooring is appropriate before selecting a panel. Some facilities require accessible services or an airflow path below the floor; others need a different floor arrangement to suit cleaning and containment.
Distinguish room classification from a panel specification
ISO 14644-1 addresses air cleanliness classification by airborne particle concentration. It is not a stand-alone certificate that proves a loose floor panel will create a compliant cleanroom.
The project team needs to coordinate the room envelope, air system, equipment, cleaning procedures and installation. Ask the designer which performance evidence and acceptance tests apply to the completed facility and which apply specifically to the proposed floor.
Define the floor’s role in the room
Record whether the void provides service access, an airflow route or both. Where perforated panels are part of the air design, specify the required performance and arrangement with the mechanical designer. Openings, equipment bases and service penetrations must follow the approved layout.
If the floor is solid, document how panel joints, edges and penetrations will be detailed for the intended cleaning process. Maintenance access needs to be compatible with contamination control; unrestricted lifting of panels during operation may not be appropriate.
Review materials against the actual process
| Requirement | Evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Cleaning | Compatibility with the stated agents, methods and frequency |
| Surface and edges | Construction details and treatment of site-cut components |
| Equipment support | Loads, contact positions and matching system test evidence |
| Electrical performance | Specified test method and installation requirements, if needed |
| Service access | Method of panel removal and reinstatement |
| Understructure | Support layout, fixing details and project-specific engineering review |
Aluminum raised floor may be considered where its documented properties match the process. Material selection alone cannot establish cleanliness, chemical compatibility or electrical performance. Obtain written limits for the proposed surface and construction.
Coordinate installation and acceptance in Chile
Have the local project engineer specify any anchorage and lateral restraint requirements for the building. Submit the proposed support arrangement for approval rather than relying on a generic seismic claim. Agree who will inspect the base, approve site readiness and control work that could introduce contamination.
Before delivery, define protected storage, package opening, installation sequencing and final cleaning responsibilities. The handover package should identify the installed system, replacement components, care instructions and the tests required by the approved project specification.
Request a specification review
Send SunTree Floor the Chile project application, room drawings, area, floor height, equipment loads, cleaning requirements and any airflow or ESD criteria. Use the cleanroom application page as a starting point and request a project review. Include the consultant’s specification so suitability can be assessed against the actual process.
