Perforated Access Floor Panels for Egypt: Airflow and Procurement Guide

Perforated access floor panels should be selected as part of an approved cooling design. For an Egypt data center or server room project, start by confirming whether the raised floor void actually distributes supply air. A room using another cooling arrangement may not need perforated panels at all.

Ask for airflow data, not only open area

Open area describes the proportion of openings in a panel, but it does not tell the buyer how much air will reach a rack in a particular room. Ask for airflow performance at stated pressure conditions and have the cooling designer review the proposed model and layout.

The panel schedule should identify locations, quantities and any approved adjustment mechanism. Keep it coordinated with rack positions and cable openings. Moving a panel during operation may change air distribution and should follow the facility’s change process.

Verify mechanical compatibility

Confirm the panel dimensions, thickness, edge construction and supporting arrangement. A perforated panel should not be assumed to have the same load performance as the solid panel it replaces. Request the relevant report for the offered configuration and compare it with the intended equipment and maintenance traffic.

For replacement work, provide information about the existing system. Matching the visible grid size is not enough to prove that a panel will seat correctly on the installed supports.

Include leakage details in the design review

Cable penetrations, perimeter conditions and unused openings need appropriate details where the void acts as an air plenum. Identify grommets and other components in the bill of materials. Do not promise a fixed energy saving from a panel change without a project-specific assessment.

Ask the mechanical designer to specify the checks needed during commissioning. Airflow observations should be assessed alongside room cooling performance and the actual equipment arrangement, rather than treated as a panel-only acceptance test.

Prepare a complete RFQ

Send panel quantities and locations, required airflow performance, pressure condition, dimensions, finish, loading criteria and support details. Add the Egypt delivery location, programme and the scope of any replacement work. If the airflow requirement is unresolved, mark it for design review before the order is finalized.

Review SunTree Floor’s airflow panels and data center application. Request a project quotation that identifies panels and accessories separately so the proposed supply can be checked against the cooling design.
