Raised Floor Subfloor Readiness for Brazil Projects

A raised floor installation can be delayed even when every panel has arrived. For a Brazil office or technical-room project, the slab, room conditions and trade sequence must be ready for the selected support system. A dated site-release checklist helps the main contractor and installer agree when installation can begin.

The checklist should use the actual manufacturer’s requirements and project specification. Avoid copying a moisture limit, adhesive cure time or surface preparation method from an unrelated flooring product.

Establish the slab condition before setting out

Survey the slab levels and mark defects, contamination, existing coatings and areas needing repair. Record the reference level used for the survey. This information helps the installer check the proposed support adjustment range and identify where remedial work is necessary.

Do not conceal unresolved defects beneath the floor. Assign the repair method and approval responsibility before the installation crew mobilizes. Retain photographs and the acceptance record for repaired areas, especially where pedestal bases will be positioned.

Agree how moisture will be assessed

A surface that looks dry does not provide a complete moisture assessment. Ask the relevant material suppliers which test method and acceptance criteria apply to the proposed substrate, sealer and pedestal adhesive. Record the test locations, dates and results where testing is required.

An unresolved leak and residual construction moisture are different problems and may require different responses. Identify the source and agreed corrective action instead of treating a surface coating as an automatic remedy. Recheck affected areas before releasing them for installation.

Verify the proposed fixing system

Pedestal adhesive, substrate sealer and any existing coating need to be considered together. Where mechanical fixings are proposed, the project team should also review the slab, embedded services and approved fixing locations. The installer should receive the accepted method before work starts.

As an example of manufacturer-specific guidance, Tate’s porcelain access floor installation guide calls for a clean substrate and compatibility between sealer and pedestal adhesive. Its instructions apply to its system; use the selected SunTree system’s approved requirements for your project.

Release the room through a documented checklist

Site condition Record before release
Slab levels Survey and accepted floor datum
Surface defects Repair locations and approval
Moisture Required assessment and accepted results
Sealer and fixing Compatible products and installation method
Room enclosure Protection from weather and water ingress
Other trades Access plan and remaining overhead work
Storage Dry, designated space and handling route

Record who accepts each item. A general statement that the room is ready should not override a specific unresolved condition noted by the installer.

Coordinate installation with the construction sequence

Identify work that could contaminate, wet or damage the completed floor. Agree when that work will finish, how any unavoidable later access will be controlled and who supplies protection. Keep temporary material storage and equipment movements within the approved loading arrangements.

For phased work, release areas individually and maintain a plan showing their status. One accepted zone does not imply that every room in the building is ready. Use the raised floor installation checklist to connect site readiness with the later installation inspections.

Include readiness assumptions in the enquiry

When comparing supply and installation offers, state who carries out the survey, repairs, moisture assessment and substrate preparation. Identify exclusions clearly so the project budget covers the necessary work. Review the Brazil supplier evaluation guide and send SunTree the project conditions with the proposed floor height, panel type and installation programme.
