Buying raised floor panels for a Qatar data center involves several teams: the main contractor, equipment supplier, cooling designer, installer and procurement team. A useful tender package makes their interfaces explicit before commercial offers are compared.
Begin with the approved data center layout and identify whether the floor is intended for service access only or also forms part of an underfloor air distribution design. This distinction changes the questions to ask about panel types, openings and sealing details.
Issue the equipment and floor layout together
Show rack positions, support points, aisles, equipment movement routes and service penetrations. Add the specified floor height and perimeter conditions. Do not ask bidders to infer rack loads from room area or a general statement such as “heavy duty.”
Request the proposed system’s test documentation against the project’s load criteria. If the equipment layout is provisional, state the assumptions and require review when the final equipment information arrives. Cutting a panel or changing its support arrangement needs a checked detail; it should not be treated as an insignificant field change.
Coordinate solid and airflow panels
Where the cooling design uses an underfloor plenum, specify the required airflow performance and pressure condition for the selected panels. An open-area percentage alone is not a room cooling calculation. The designer also needs the panel arrangement, available pressure and the effect of cable openings and other leakage paths.
Keep the airflow panel schedule aligned with the rack layout. Do not replace solid panels with grilles merely because a room feels warm. Investigate the cooling system and obtain an approved revision first.
Request an approval package for the actual assembly
| Document | Review purpose |
|---|---|
| Panel and support drawings | Confirm model, dimensions and system compatibility |
| Load reports | Compare the tested assembly with the specified requirements |
| Finish and electrical information | Check the selected surface and testing plan |
| Setting-out and edge details | Coordinate cut panels, thresholds and service access |
| Installation and care instructions | Plan site preparation, handling and maintenance |
| Packing and component list | Confirm that a complete installation can be delivered |
Use the consultant’s document schedule for the Qatar project. A manufacturer’s report from a different assembly should not be accepted without confirming its relevance. Required local approvals remain project-specific.
Plan delivery around usable work areas
Agree whether supply will arrive in one shipment or by installation zone. Label components so the installer can identify matching panels, supports and finishes. Before dispatch, confirm unloading access, protected storage, inspection responsibilities and the route into the building.
Separate the required arrival date from the manufacturing completion date. The agreed programme should account for document approval, production, shipment, receiving and site readiness, with responsibilities assigned to named parties.
Move from tender comparison to quotation
For a Qatar project, send SunTree Floor the room drawings, floor area, equipment loading criteria, finished height, finish and airflow requirements. Review the data center flooring application and request a configured quotation. Ask for accessories and exclusions to be listed separately so procurement can compare equivalent offers.
