Data Center Wall Panel BOQ for South American Projects

A wall panel bill of quantities can look straightforward until different suppliers measure different things. For a South American data center project, define whether the package is wall cladding, a complete partition or another assembly before comparing prices. Square metres of visible face do not necessarily describe the complete supply.

Prepare the BOQ from the latest plans, elevations and details. Keep the measurement basis beside each quantity so the supplier, installer and buyer can follow the same assumptions.

Distinguish cladding from a complete partition

Cladding may cover an existing wall or backing structure. A partition package may include two faces, internal framing and other components. State the required assembly and who provides the supporting construction.

Review the wall cladding and partition comparison when defining the scope. Its distinction applies to procurement in South America too, while the local project’s design and acceptance requirements must be established separately.

Measure wall faces consistently

An illustrative wall 12 m long and 3 m high has a gross face area of 36 m². A 1 m by 2.1 m opening represents 2.1 m², leaving 33.9 m² of net face area if the agreed measurement method deducts that opening. A two-sided partition must identify both faces, and the supplier’s pricing basis may differ from that simple net-area calculation.

This example does not establish the number of panels to order. Panel modules, joint positions, returns and cutting patterns can change stock requirements. Record measured area and ordered panel quantities as separate values.

Schedule openings and returns

Doorways, glazing, service penetrations and access hatches need more information than a deducted area. Identify frame interfaces, edge trims, reveal depths and any local reinforcement. Assign responsibility for sealants and penetration treatments according to the approved design.

Where fire or acoustic performance is specified, the opening details need to form part of the relevant assembly review. A panel-only document does not establish the performance of a completed wall with doors and service openings.

Itemize the components that area pricing can hide

BOQ line Useful measurement or reference
Panel faces Area, module, finish and elevation reference
Framing or rails Layout and system-specific quantities
Internal and external corners Length and approved detail
Base and head trims Length and junction detail
Door and hatch interfaces Opening schedule and included components
Fixings and accessories Approved system and allocation of supply
Spares Separate panel and finish identification

For hook-on wall panel systems, confirm the support arrangement and the clearance required to remove panels. Do not let an adjacent ceiling or fixed fitting block the intended access sequence.

Coordinate the floor and ceiling junctions

Identify whether the wall is supported from the structural slab, another structure or a specifically designed floor detail. Do not assume an access floor can carry the partition because the panels appear rigid. Have the responsible designer approve the load path and junction.

Check how skirtings, floor access panels and ceiling edges meet the wall. Where the wall package is ordered before the floor level is final, show that level as an unresolved interface and establish when it must be confirmed.

Request a quotation with a scope matrix

Attach the BOQ, elevation revisions and a simple table stating who supplies and installs each component. Ask suppliers to show exclusions, alternatives and assumptions beside their prices. Review SunTree’s data center wall panel systems and request a coordinated quotation with the wall type, dimensions, openings and required assembly performance clearly identified.
